✍️ The Design: The flag of Palestine is a powerful symbol of heritage and identity known throughout the world. This horizontal tricolor features the iconic Pan-Arab colors, each carrying historical and cultural significance for Muslim people..

The design is three equal stripes:

⬛️ Black at the top, representing the Abbasid Caliphate;

⬜️ White in the middle, symbolizing the Umayyad Caliphate

🟩 Green at the bottom, signifying the Fatimid Caliphate and the lushness of the land.

🔻 Connecting them all at the hoist is a bold red triangle, which represents the Khawarij and the shared struggle for liberty.

Together, these colors tell a story of a long-standing history and a connection to the wider Arab world.

History: While these colors were used during the Arab Revolt of 1916, the flag was officially adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1964. In a moment of historic recognition, the United Nations began flying the flag outside its headquarters in 2015. Today, September 30 is celebrated as Palestinian Flag Day, serving as a proud tribute to the resilience, culture, and enduring spirit of the Palestinian people.
